Thanks to Road ID, my Wife and Son were by my side

Little did I realize when I ordered my Road ID I would need it so soon.  I received my Road ID on May 15th and left to compete in a Triathlon in Phoenix, AZ on May 20th.  I did not win the race but I competed well and felt great about my performance
Little did I realize when I ordered my Road ID I would need it so soon.  I received my Road ID on May 15th and left to compete in a Triathlon in Phoenix, AZ on May 20th.  I did not win the race but I competed well and felt great about my performance as a 67 year old competitor.

A few days later, on the 28th of May, I was 30+ miles into a nice ride around North Phoenix when I pulled over for a break.  It was around 11:30 am and already pushing 100 degrees.  I had planned on taking 5 or 10 minutes to re-hydrate and cool off but my body had other plans – I suffered a heart attack right there on the side of the road.

When medical personnel arrived, I was having a difficult time communicating clearly.  Luckily, I was wearing my Road ID which gave them the valuable medical and contact information they needed.  I wound up having life saving by-pass heart surgery.  If I was not wearing the Road ID, the medical staff would not have had immediate access to the important information that allowed them to act quickly.  Thanks to Road ID, my wife and my son were at my side when I awoke from my surgery having traveled over 2,000 miles to be with me.  My daughter was able to join us the next day.

Why I bought the Road ID I really do not know but I am sure glade I did. I am happy to report that I have recovered well and now I wear my Road ID every time I leave the house.
