I was hit by 2 leaping deer while riding my bike. First responders used my Road ID to notify my wife and let ER know what was coming in. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital with a scapula fractured in 3 places, 5 broken ribs, a compression fracture of T4 vertebrae, a crushed nerve in my foot, 6 stitches over my left eye, and enough roadrash and bruising to last a lifetime.My doctor has taken me off the bike, so now I am content to walk for exercise. I came away from this experience knowing a few thing: wear your Road ID, as you never know when you'll need it; and wear a helmet - mine saved my life. Life is precious and every day can bring joy.
