I am an avid recreational cyclist, and I have been riding for the last 30 years. I love it. I recently bought a new carbon fiber Trek – my first new bike in 23 years. I crashed badly on a regular ride about a week ago. I suffered a concussion, staples in the head, plenty of road rash, and 2 fractures in my sacrum. I have no memoryof the 30 minutes following the accident. I went to pick up my bike the other day, and the guy who had it said my Road ID was utilized by nearly all of the dozen emergency personnel who showed up at the scene – ambulance personnel, local police, state police, a passing nurse, and even the ER trauma doctor. My Road ID was extremely helpful throughout the emergency situation. I was wearing it as a precaution since I had never had a serious accident of any kind. Now I know to always wear it.
