My son Kyle had a bike accident that landed him in the hospital for 2 days. A Good Samaritan witnessed his fall and called 911 and because Kyle was wearing his Road ID, they were able to contact his mom and notify her of the accident and that help was on its way. He suffered a concussion, pneumothorax to his left lung, and strained ligaments in his neck but was able to come home and rest comfortably with no major injuries.

The trauma surgeon asked if Kyle had been wearing a helmet to which he had, along with the rest of his cycling gear that had been collected by the fire department. The surgeon and nursing staff were relieved and commented that the helmet contributed to minimizing any significant head trauma - they see many serious injuries that could be avoided with the use of a helmet.

Whether you or your child are serious riders or just ride around the block, please make sure you wear your helmet and have a Road ID.
