I am a paramedic and the reason why I got a Road ID is because I found a runner that was involved in a hit and run accident. He was carrying nothing but his GPS watch, water bottle, and his ID band. I had never seen these before that day. This accident hit me hard, as I am a runner myself. I thought about how I only carry a GPS watch and water bottle while I run. I would have nothing for people to know me by, or emergency contacts available, just in case.
This person's life was now in my hands, without any info, until I found the Road ID with his wife's cell number on it. This information is what most helped me to assist this patient. Afterwards, I immediately went online and ordered my first Road ID.
