Carrying a cellphone doesn't get the job done!

While riding my road bike on a 40 mile trip, preparing for a big race, I fell off at mile 31. I hit my head (yes, had a helmet on!) and broke my right pelvis and my left thumb. I lost consciousness and was found by a passerby, who notified EMS.

I lost consciousness and was found by a passerby, who notified EMS. When EMS had me en route to hospital, they called my husband.

Later he asked where they put my cell phone, they told him that they hadn't found one (it was in a pouch on my front behind handlebars). He asked how they reached him, and they pointed to my Road ID. I was so thankful that they were able to reach him in such quick time - not sure what they would have done otherwise.

I always wear my Road ID when I am riding or running or skiing alone. Obviously, a cell phone doesn't get the job done in an emergency!
Thank you!
