Hello there. Edward Wimmer here. In case you don’t know me, I co-founded ROAD iD (with my Dad) waaaayy back in 1999. The primary purpose of this page is to share with you some changes that are coming to the MyROADiD pricing structure. Allow me to explain…
Starting on 11/1/22, the annual price for a MyROADiD subscription changed from $9.99/year to $19.99/year.
We are no longer going to charge PER PROFILE. Instead, we are only going to charge PER ACCOUNT. For you, this means that you can add as many profiles as you want to your account and you’ll only pay $19.99 per year.
I know this announcement may raise some questions for you. I’ve tried to anticipate these questions and will attempt to address them below:
WHY ARE YOU CHANGING THE PRICE?
When we launched MyROADiD in 2006, we wanted to maximize the number of people that would benefit from it. With that in mind, we offered it the lowest price that we could - $9.99/year - or roughly .83 cents a month.
Over the last 16 years (geez..that makes me feel old), we’ve worked really hard to keep the MyROADiD service at that incredibly low price.
That low price that we set 16 years ago, however, is no longer sustainable for us to maintain, support, and improve this life-saving service. One of the benefits of this price change is that it will allow us to dedicate more resources to making MyROADiD even better. Here are some things to look for in 2023:
Yes, we know the myroadid.com website looks a bit dated. We’re gonna fix that.
Cheaper for families.
As noted above, if you have more than two profiles on your account, the service is actually going to get cheaper. Currently, you pay $9.99 per profile. After the pricing change, you’ll only pay $19.99 per account - not per profile. In other words, it will be a single membership fee per family.
The fact that myroadid.com is separate from roadid.com has caused login confusion for some customers. When the facelift is complete, logging in will be a snap.
Q: What do I need to do?
A: Nothing. We’re going to handle everything from this end. Your account will simply Auto Renew at the new price on your next renewal date.
Q: If I have multiple emergency profiles in my account will I be charged $19.99 per profile?
A: No. Our goal is to only charge you only one membership fee per account. Think of it as a “family membership.” Family membership technically won’t roll out until sometime in 2023. In the meantime, however, you can rest assured that we’re only going to charge you one $19.99 membership fee for your entire account. Additional profiles will NOT incur a charge.
Q: In the MyROADiD account, it looks like my profiles expire on different dates. Are you sure you’re not going to charge me per profile?
A: Yes, we’re sure. In your account, you’ll notice that we extended your membership until 12/31/2024 for all but one profile. The one that expires earliest is the only one that we’re going to charge. Then sometime in 2023, we’ll officially migrate your account to “Family Pricing.” At that time, you’ll be able to clearly see that all profiles will expire on the same date. Rest assured that we’re only going to charge you $19.99 per account.
Q: I also subscribe to the ROAD iD App (also known as eCrumbs)? Do I pay two membership fees?
A: The ROAD iD Tracking App and the MyROADiD Emergency Profile system are two completely separate services with separate membership fees and structures. This said, we are exploring ways to provide a single membership that would give you access to all of our digital products at a lower, combined fee. Stay tuned for more on this.
Q: Can I cancel my membership?
A: While we hope you stick around, you are in complete control of your membership. To make a change, simply log in to your myroadid.com account and navigate to the “Tools” menu.
Q: What if I have multiple IDs attached to a single profile
A: Every ID that you add to your Profile scores you 6 months of FREE membership. As noted above, our plan is to charge $19.99 per MyROADiD Account - not per Profile or per ID.
