I was one of those athletes who had considered every safety aspect of my sport EXCEPT wearing ID. I am a triathlete and an asthmatic. Not a great combination, but I've learned to push past it. One day, however, during the run portion of a race, I pushed a little too hard and almost succumbed to abad asthma attack. I lost vision and hearing and then almost blacked out. Somehow, I managed to remain calm and conscious, and even finished the race. I realized that day the reality of how close I came to being a Jane Doe at the local ER.
