I have a pre-existing congenital heart condition, and a few months ago, during equestrian training, I suddenly experienced severe chest pain and shortness of breath.
I immediately drove to the ER and was unable to communicate verbally upon arrival. The triage staff noticed my ROAD iD, read my info and were able to determine I was suffering from right-sided heart failure.
The ER staff used my ROAD iD to contact my parents who were able to provide the essential background info on my heart condition. I later found out that the ER staff had assumed I was suffering from a drug overdose. While this diagnosis would have also required medical attention, my ROAD iD facilitated the immediate life-saving treatment only available at a specialty heart center and eliminated a possible lengthy medical assessment.
I am now recovering from my fourth, and hopefully final, open-heart surgery, and am on my way to making a full recovery. I originally purchased my ROAD iD because it is mandatory to wear your contact info on your person during equestrian events in the event of an accident. I now wear my ROAD iD all the time. I never thought it would alert medical professionals to an underlying health condition, but it did, and as such I am forever grateful for your products.
