The internet is an amazing and strange place. Through the world wide web, I can video chat with a friend on a different continent or debate a complete stranger about the proper way for dogs to wear pants. That quirky dichotomy between functional and fun is what drew me to a career in digital content. I spent several years as a behind-the-screen creator before realizing my true passion on the digital spectrum: Social media.

So you get to mess around on Facebook all day?” is a frequent response to telling someone about my job in social media. Not quite, is the short answer.

The truth is, social media management is a multifaceted job in an ever-changing landscape. That’s what makes it exciting. Working with the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram means no two days are the same.

As the social media manager at ROAD iD, I feel honored to be part of a business that is all about impacting lives. I’m excited to interact with you on social media and help share ROAD iD’s story with new audiences.

Since starting at ROAD iD, I’ve been introduced to the most engaging group of followers I’ve ever worked with. The community surrounding ROAD iD is a powerful and spirited group. Your positive, grateful and genuinely awesome feedback is what social media managers dream about. I feel pretty lucky to experience it in real life.

Let’s be honest, though. Your Facebook feeds aren’t all sunshine and GIFs.*

GIFs are fun

The internet has some dark corners and it can be easy to blame social media for problems that ail society. But like so many other things in life, social media is what you make of it. You get what you put into it.

ROAD iD aims to positively impact the world around us. I believe that mission is heard loud and clear by those of you who tag, comment, like and engage with us on social media. So thanks for being our friend and for sharing the good vibes.

I’m pumped about getting to know the ROAD iD social community through your feedback and photos. Keep ‘em coming and know that my digital door is always open: Have an idea for us? Want to see more posts on certain subject? Want to send me a funny meme? Email me at kara.foxx@roadid.com

Dogs in pants

When I’m not plugged in at ROAD iD, I enjoy weekend getaways with my dog, Luna, and my partner, Ben. My current favorite hobbies are cooking and growing vegetables in my community garden. I love trying new foods and have never met a cheese I don't like - especially when paired with a good wine or beer.

I’ll end my first ROAD iD blog with a shameless plug: If you haven’t already, be sure to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Pinterest.

*Help us settle an office debate: Do you pronounce it “jif,” like the brand of peanut butter, or with a hard G sound? Share your two cents with us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

The great GIF debate
