Wearing Road ID is one of the smartest things
Things happen when we least expect them...On October 15th I was out for a ride in the middle of the day.
I was in the bike lane when out of nowhere a station wagon hit me and sent me flying 25ft through the air.
I was completely unresponsive when the police and EMS arrived. I had to be life-flighted to the
closest emergency room.
The medical personnel utilized my Road ID to obtain important medical and contact information.
Thanks to my Road ID my family was at my side when I finally woke up in the hospital.
In the words of my sister, "purchasing and wearing Road ID was one of the smartest things in the world I could have done."
Remember, life is precious. It is amazing what we will spend on bicycles and gear yet avoid a $20 purchase that when needed is invaluable.

"My identification / medical cards were illegible"
I wish I had a Road ID last summer during a rainy century ride.
I was riding along when suddenly I slipped on some train tracks going about 22 mph.
By the time I was taken to the nearest hospital, I was soaked, filthy, and in mild shock.
I carried my medical cards, and other forms of identification, but they had

"My Road ID got me immediate treatment"
I am a professional duathlete living in the western suburbs of Chicago. I was out on a training ride, going about 20 mph through a neighborhood that is known to be "cyclist friendly". Suddenly a driver – on a cell phone – backed right out of a parking space in front of me.
I hit the back of the SUV and proceeded to bounce

"I was left lying in the middle of the road"
Long story short, I was out for a Friday ride, when a
truck blew through a stop sign, throwing me in the air
and destroying my newly built up Cannondale CAAD9 road bike. The driver didn't even stop to check on me. He fled the scene leaving me in the middle of the road. Luckily a passer by came to the scene, and...

"I heard the EMTs access my emergency profile"
Well, that moment we "road bikers" dread, happened to me on Saturday. To make a long story short,
my back wheel got caught in a railroad track as I was crossing it at 18 mph,
and...you can guess what happened next. After that,
I regained awareness only twice

once in the ambulance for a few minutes, then later

"My Road ID spoke for me twice!"
My Road ID spoke for me twice last summer when I was in a bike accident. I was out riding along a local route, when a car turned directly into me. I hit hard, sliding over the trunk and then sliding another 8 feet on gravel. When the emergency responders arrived, I was conscious, but not really 'with it'. They got all my information...
